The thing about first impressions with Spring regarding Peridot right now is that she... kind of closed herself off from Peridot towards the end before she was booked. She didn't think her problems mattered to them (but that was because Cal more or less brushed off her dying in her mind by saying "Everyone has awful lives) and was a little uncertain about their inaction during a Darkness attack. So she left just going "I don't really belong on Peridot".
So coming back she was super wary. And Hazel is actually really bad at being separated from people she cares about. We see in canon that she gets separated from her boyfriend and thinks he might be dead/not see him again and she nearly rage quits until Leo stops her. But that's also because everyone she's ever loved... she's lost. And so coming back to for of the teammates she new being gone and then some more personal issues she's a little more on edge.
A point in favor though is that, most of her prominent memories is being physically and mentally abused by the people she grew up around (also racism/mother's possession/etc) and so as a person in Aather... This has made Peridot as a whole REALLY important to her. Because they never rejected her or did anything like that and so even if she's really uncertain about new Peridots this brings a point in their favor.
So that's really how her impression started with Rena/Amaranth. She really wants desperately to just be upset that she'd lost people, but she can't. It's not in her to hate people for existing because.... Well, one her own life and she's also been a "replacement" for someone important. She knows how it feels to have someone want another person more than you. But at the same time!!! She really likes meeting new people/friends and so she's trying to be friendly and accepting.
They've only talked a bit now, but she thinks that Amaranth fits Peridot really well. She's cute and encouraging and that's good (Hazel is not a big "cute" thing person because soldier/warrior so she thinks that's GOOD. because cute/fashion etc is important to Peridot). She accepted her rather readily and didn't distance her which was another important factor. Especially when some of the guys did (although Hazel cannot blame them and completely understands).
In her head though she's ironically placing Canna/Clover because once Beatrice legacied her first while in Aather they were the only girls in the team. And somehow it's a fit that works...? Rena definitely isn't Clover! But at the same time they feel really similar to her and so it's easy to try and get along with her. Also it's just... nice to not be the only girl on the team. And so she wants to try and be friends/get along/do stuff together, but first she has to sort out all of the feelings she has right now to properly re-settle in Peridot.
BUT SO FAR. Amaranth has many points in her favor and Hazel likes her!!! She is just a mess of feelings.
It's also a little complicated on Rena's side, but in the sense that she is determined to do right by Hazel. She always appreciated when she first arrived that everyone was so welcoming and kind to her despite being sad about a teammate's booking (and said teammate being Hazel herself sort of enhances it), and wants to make sure anyone else who comes in feels just as welcomed. She wants Peridot to stay close and for everyone to feel as comfortable as they can! Since Hazel is clearly hesitant in some respects, and a lot of Peridot is depressed about Cal being gone, right now she's working extra hard to be as friendly as she can and keep the mood just a little bit brighter. She's trying her best to pay attention to Hazel's feelings and do what she can to make settling back in go smoothly.
She likes her so far in her own right, too! She's cute and a nice girl, but Rena can also already tell that she's a very strong person. And she thinks it's nice to have another girl on the team, too. She genuinely looks forward to getting closer to her and hopes they can be good friends.
Let us bond over being the only active gameplaying Peridot girls, Rena '^'
...He's really... not? Like on an OOC scale it's good for me because it brings in more availablity for his development, but Ron is kind of like this is dumb. He likes being older and taller for some things. Like he's taller than Selenia! That's cool! One day he will totally lord that over him.
But becoming older also doubled with a little of discomfort because there is a lot of scars now! And this is worrying! Then I changed one of his old memories to an older one and that only brings that worry to the surface. Because now he definitely knows something is wrong and not being able to do anything about it bothers him.
Also his clothes not fitting was annoying and sucked. He spent the night in the bathroom just going "NOPE" at things.
Her main source of investment in Aather was Booked and she has people waiting for her, so she's not planning to stick around much longer! She wants to dote on Snow and make sure he's doing alright with all his romance trouble, maybe talk with Liberty about said romance drama, sit on Shes and make sure he's not being stupid, and just generally roll around on all her cute Kunzites, but she's pretty ready to roll out once she's done all that.
Piper was a character I wanted to play most because I wanted to play an adult. I usually play young dead girls or... Ron Weasley like dumb boys. So I have a "type" and while Piper still fits into that type-- protecting the innocent, etc-- she fills it in a different way. And I thought she'd be better at integrating and having fun with opposed to my other options (Riza Hawkeye or Roy Mustang... while fun they're more serious characters).
In a lot of ways my major hope for her is the same that it is for Ron. She's always been part of a trio and her sisters usually had the limelight growing up. It seems like it would be interesting to separate her from that and have her find her own footing outside of the famed power of three.
I actually sadly really look forward to her regaining her memories of her husband and kids. Sadly because she is going to be very upset and active after that and it's just... seemingly a lot of fun to delve into with me? At the same time it's those reasons that I want her to accidentally adopt kids in Aather and take care of them because that's just who she is. :> And a lot of kids could use it, oops.
As a whole Ron is very, very tsundere towards Sapphire but is slowly warming up. With Apple in particular she is weirdly... She is a weird cross between Ginny and Hermione? But she leans more towards the Ginny side of his brain... Just not younger Ginny. She's very assertive and bossy to him which is where the mixture comes in.
He's constantly in a state of amusement/bemusement/annoyance/affection with her. Or sometimes they change about a bit, but in general it's actually a good thing. Because if Ron is annoyed it's showing he actually cares about something!!! Even if he's not very good at showing it or will respond rather grumpily it all still comes back to the same thing. It's a very different thing than a mix of anger/annoyance/dislike to him. More or less if he likes you the annoyance factor is still a thing... Since Ron is a very "doing my own thing don't tell me what to do" kind of approach to life. He refuses to follow things he doesn't agree with/like (see telling Harry to not stalk Malfoy like a creeper).
Overall, Apple has been a really good influence on him in that he's more willing to speak his mind to her. Sapphire has made that part of him a lot more prominent. He's not willing to speak about feelings exactly, but that's because he doesn't understand most of his and just... let's it be. But he will happily say she's being silly or take it when she says it to him. So it's a very good thing because he gets upset even when Hermione or Harry say something like that.
Largely, this reaction is because Sapphire has been like "We value you're opinion!!! You're important!" very openly so he feels like he can be more open to them and her.
SHE IS PRETTY GOOD WITH HIM she likes him a lot '^'! She hasn't had much interaction with him aged up yet so I don't know how things will shift but I don't anticipate it changing much. In general she admires his straightforward behavior and his confidence in doing what he wants, and she encourages that! If she thinks he's taking it too far she won't hesitate to check him on it though, since she doesn't want him to run into things thoughtlessly. But she knows that he has a good heart and as a result she will encourage him at every change that she gets to be who he wants to be and do what he wants to do.
Sometimes she is on unsure footing with him because she is not used to the way he interacts with her; it's kind of new and uncharted territory! She has a lot of affection for him, but at the same time she constantly worries and feels like a horrible person for being on a team and has to stop herself from constantly apologizing for her existence ( '-') And has a lot of baggage of not feeling like she's good enough from forever ago, so if she's feeling unsure it's easy to take his annoyance the wrong way. BUT she's also comfortable enough with him to outright ask him if she isn't sure where she stands with him, and over time she's been able to pick things up a bit more. She's gaining more understanding of who he is and how he acts around everyone and it makes her feel much more at ease.
But she secretly wants to make him smile because she feels really happy when he isn't grumpy even though she is picking up that it is just kind of his default u.u
She's not really. I kind of went over it a bit above with Rena's first impression, but Spring has been distancing herself a little since before she let. This was in large because she didn't feel comfortable with Peridot's choices. She's a person who even though she WANTS to give up and just do something else she can't if she knows someone is in danger... And during the Darkness attack most of Peridot stayed in the cabin and that bothered her among other things.
So she doesn't really feel like she "fits" Peridot even though she loves them deeply and the fact they've accepted her with easy was extremely important to her.
She's also having a lot of mixed feelings about even being there. One, because most of the team she knew has gone and left and she... Doesn't do losing people she's close to. At all. And then she's very knowingly replacing Cal and knows what he meant to at least Kaoru and so she just doesn't stick around Peridot at all right now. She doesn't feel like she can blame them for being upset for obvious reasons, but at the same time this isn't a feeling she does well with. It's coupled by the fact that Bianca is here-- the person she refers to herself as being the "replacement sister" for-- and as soon as she appeared Nico was gone.
Everything's just dragging up a lot of feelings and it's making her feel, well, cursed. Which isn't something that Aather's made her feel before and so she'd felt more safe here, but thinking like that and just her resolve that she can't talk to anyone because she thinks it doesn't matter... She's not really moving forward any. She's trying-- She spends a lot of time off team and trying to make friends outside of it and play games, but she's just. Stuck.
Any plans for Covus right now? Or anything you're looking forward to?
I HAVE SO MANY THINGS //// Jack is more of a slow-burn character because he doesn't have a dramatic arc! But just interacting with teammates and CR on a normal basis is helping to shape him and preventing him from being stuck in a rut. He is from a canon that has a whole bunch of different minor characters (one of which is him, more or less) and then 4 main characters that get to do everything, sooo by the time the last book came around a lot of the minor characters didn't get to finish their arcs. My hope is that he gets some sort of closure in Aather! He is set up as this extremely intelligent, curious kid who is stuck being pushed around by one of the kid leaders and after four books he learns how to use his powers to benefit himself and the people around him and strives to do the right thing after making a huge mess. He's not a perfect character; he sulks and tends to follow orders without thinking and does a lot of things he knows are dumb. But he genuinely tries to help and the first time he gets scared after almost dying the narrative dismisses him and doesn't delve into his actions much after that. There's so much going on with him though and I really want to flesh it out and have him learn that it's okay to be scared but still want to do the right thing '^' I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT IT. But I don't have anything super specific...uhm, he is trying to build a spaceship because Leto said he could, so if he actually finished that it would be hilarious and amazing. LOOK, I MADE THIS THING, WE CAN ALL BE SAFE IF THE DARKNESS EATS EVERYTHING ( '-') He tries.
It has literally been years since I watched the show so TELL ME WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO APP PIPER 'v'
That's it. That's about it that's my reason: sass.
In all seriousness, though, I've been wanting to play an adult for a while now. And so when I started my rewatch of Charmed back in late November... Piper very, very quickly became a character I had refallen in love with. She's definitely my "type". Which for older not tiny, dead girls is badass ladies who are generally pretty selfless and willing to stick up for anyone. And I've sat on it since about then going, "but she would be really interesting in Aather!"
We've actually seen her amnesiac'd to varying degrees in canon and so that's helped a lot in playing her, but I really wanted Aather!Piper because... There are a lot of kids her who could use a mom figure? That's not the only reason but I thought it would be interesting to pull Piper away-- a woman who does NOT do change in any form at all-- and make her stand on her own two feet. No elders, no Prue, no sisters in general, no Leo. She's made a stronger character because of all of these things, especially Prue, so in a situation without them it's an interesting idea! At the same time I'm an awful person and really look forward to seeing how she handles finding out she's a wife and mother and Aather made her forget (hint: it won't go down well)!!!
She is just going to keep doing what she always does! Just. Keep trucking. And avoid talking to Gryffindor in the future about things... ( '-') She has been down this road mmmany times before and isn't going to push herself into another discussion when she isn't ready to deal with it. She has a lot of extreme crushing guilt and insecurities over everything involving Sapphire and their conversation ended up digging at a lot of that. TALKING TO PEOPLE IS CLEARLY NOT HELPING so she is going to contemplate things on her own.
She's fussed at Yuki but that's something fairly easily resolved; she understands that she has far more investment in trying to explain things to him then he does in even caring about the conversation. If her investment is at 80% his is around 3% as far as she knows. So even if she's mad with him or upset, he doesn't get fazed and she can calm down and figure out a way to explain it to him again. YUKI IS EASY and she is at least comfortable with her relationship with him that she doesn't really see it as a problem, even if she gets frustrated with him. It's okay to disagree and argue and people with completely different world views aren't going to agree on everything, that is okay \o/
Selenia, on the other hand, ended their conversation by saying he didn't want to care about her anymore and that going forward he intended to keep their interactions strictly professional, and also that her morals didn't mean anything...they have always had a big push and pull in their ways of thinking that they have constantly been trying to work through and that was the point where Selenia just said he didn't want to try anymore and effectively took her out of his life. And since every piece of crushing guilt and insecurity over Sapphire is directly related to things he's said and done, that did not help. They have a million and one issues, mostly because they both tend to be very vocal about the things they want and the things they are/aren't okay with, but there's no "sit down and fix it" conversation that could happen. Especially when they had one of those conversations before and it clearly did not last, and Selenia has made it clear to her that he isn't interested in that. She knows there isn't anything she can do at the moment if Selenia isn't willing to sit down and have a conversation.
SHE IS...very close to going to Beauty or Maleficent and saying "please make me a knight because screw this." She has been with Sapphire for this long and has kept trying over and over and over again to make things work! And she has had that thought before and pulled back from it because she wanted to keep trying to make things work, and because she cared about Sapphire as a whole. But living with someone who thinks she is worth nothing is a bit much even for her.
Uhhh any plans for your characters, things you want them to do/quest for/etc?
HI. Sorry. I had this written up yesterday and I guess my computer lost it.
Ron's feelings haven't really changed-- or to say his indifference hasn't really changed. The muggle/wizard issue isn't one that's really brought up in canon save a few times except in passing (most notably in year four). It's not something that's actually been a problem in his early life for him to have a real say on.
That's actually going to change a bit more as he starts getting Deathly Hallows memories. The one I changed out to from Goldie's game is actually pretty good in the fact that it brings up the fact Death Eater are hurting mugges. But at the same time Lupin is encouraging listeners to continue what they usually do... Which is just not telling muggles about magic and protecting them instead.
It's the weird twist in mindset that even the "good wizards" have that Muggles are just better off not knowing about magic. Even with few memories it's just really in-grained in him that it makes sense. It'll take more conversations about it and memories where muggles are in immediate danger for him to really think about it. Especially since their prerogative about muggles is to erase their memories if they see magic.
How is Selenia feeling about the current state of Sapphire?
I am loving how Aather challenges character's views on their own worlds and seeing how that plays out.
Selenia has been...pretty unsure about Sapphire. They used to be SUPER STABLE for a long while and now they're having enough turn-over that he's feeling pretty unsure about his place in the "new Sapphire"; which doesn't help because he always felt kind of out-of-place on Sapphire to begin with. Sapphire has always been a pretty idealistic team and, in his view, he's seen that idealism result in crashing and burning more times than he's comfortable with. So he does get pretty genuinely distressed when new Sapphire just decide to ignore the rules or bend them for the sake of personal ideals, which has been made worse by the fact that in several harmless game new Sapphires (and Apple) have Made a Stand against a game concept that was actually as kind as the Persona could muster within their role.
There's definitely a lot of 'don't do what the Personae tell you to do!' sentiment on the team now, which has always been the case but he feels that a lot of action taken in that vein is due to a lack of knowledge on how the system actually works and he feels that Sapphire's actions in games will actually be more hurtful to their cause because, to him, they are not making their decisions with the full knowledge of how Personae even work. He's dreading the day he misses a trauma game and then finding out his teammates managed to kill everyone because they went "fuck the authority!" at a Persona actually villainous enough to kill them over it.
How's Ron feeling about Sapphire in games right now?
Edited (whoops, some of my line got deleted) 2014-05-08 07:16 (UTC)
FUNNILY enough. Ron's worries are in a lot of ways similar/different from Selenia in a weird twist.
Sapphire has been really good to Gryffindor in terms of choices and vocalization. Between Apple encouraging him to do something he wants to do and Selenia going I'm proud of having you on this team they were really pivotal in the fact that... Ron really, really wants to do his best and speak up. At the same time he really looks up to the older Sapphires which is seen in one of his latest threads with Apple. It's why he was going "no, you guys are being dumb please fix this or I will step in and none of you will like it".
Beause at the end of the day Ron is a... pretty selfless person? Which is what his approach to games has been. In the friendship baking game he had mostly jokingly suggested the friendship cake because it seemed the thing they would do and when it actually worke he was this mix between amused and embarrassed. But even something as simple as that has really fixed the way he views Sapphire so he very stagnantly tries to go, "okay, but how would Sapphire see this?" for a while. And now he's just like, "okay, I'll do it my own way, but maybe they'd go along with it because it's a choice I made?" Choice has become important to him now in that he follows his own without feeling too guilty about it!
At the same time this is the selflessness comes in and his likeness to Selenia comes in, especially as he gets more war memories. Ron is not a person who willingly wants to hurt anyone, he's even seen asking Harry should they kill death eaters. He asks this specifically saying they'd kill us too and almost did it already, but when Harry says they're not he's visibly relieved. Ron actually feels responsible for lives he barely knows! And this is an important trait that kind of played in his first trauma game. He was well aware there was a chance that /no/ there is probably not a way around it. But he was going to do his best to think up all the viable solutions on how to maybe not have to do it and, worst case scenario, the best way so not too many people would get seriously hurt.
This is actually something that made him mad at his team about except Selenia. Because Apple outright refused to even accept the idea they might have to hurt people. Yuki was like, "I don't care so long as you don't hurt these teams and if I do I'll hurt you." And Ron was just like. No. Both of you are dumb. Especially when Yuki was like "well, people are gonna save the people they like best. that doesn't matter to me just save these people even if I know no one else is going to attack them". Just the concept of people trying to save their friends over stranger is both this thing he UNDERSTANDS but at the same time is like NO. THAT... THAT DOES NOT HELP THE SITUATION!!!
And so in his own way he's extremely worried about any future games where they might have to hurt people. Because so far he's seen that Sapphire is too stubborn and not in a good way. It's part of why he told Apple that if she didn't settle things with Selenia and Yuki soon then he will. Ron is a person who an fight/argue and then sulk angrily for weeks with the best of them but the biggest difference is that... If they are in a situation where it is very obvious that it's dumb-- someone's in need, the other is hurting, etc-- he drops it just like that and never brings it up again. It may not LEAVE him if it's something that effects his self worth, but he bottles that up and just.. never says anything. As a whole though he's very disappointed in the fighting because he's like if something happens and you can't sort it out then it's all of us.
In short, they've given him more approval of freedom of choice but at the same time the rigidness in certain aspects makes him very uncomfortable.
My future plans with Selenia are his eventual legacy! He has two normal memories left and I have an AU alternity in the wings that I plan to keep to 3-5 memories so he's...very close to done there.
And honestly after that, I am not too sure what's going to happen! I played around with him gaining back his Lorelei skill then with the rest of his memories and skills but that would definitely require him going on a legacy quest for a while which means he'll be out of play for a month or so. But my biggest plan is just to see what he does when he's legacy and in a position where his own safety is pretty much guaranteed but his team's is not and see how he handles it. He may end up deciding that there's no point in him staying and leave, or he may decide it's important to at least stay where all the 'action' is and do what he can to help. Who knows! I don't!
Hazel is honestly... not sure what to do when it comes to Bianca. She wants to try and be there for her and get to know her, but knowing what she does just kind of... prevents her from doing it. Or she's afraid to because she's afraid that Bianca will be upset at her.
She very strongly feels she's not her real sister. She loves her unconditionally because family, but she knows that Nico only brought her back because he couldn't get Bianca. He probably wouldn't have tried to find her in her mind if the reverse happened so it's left kind of a gap between where Hazel wants to be and where she wants to be.
SHE IS JUST VERY MIXED FEELINGS RIGHT NOW BUT STILL WANTS TO TRY. Because she can't blame Bianca for any of it but it is still very, very hard.

LOOK AT THIS SASSY LADY! HOW CAN I DENY HER!!!
What is Apple gonna do from here on out?

Future plans with Selenia?

H-How about Bianca ;u;
